## Welcome to Voidling Bound

Voidling Bound is a sci-fi third-person shooter creature crafter developed by Hatchery Games, a Canadian indie studio. You take direct control of creatures called Voidlings, shaping them through branching evolution, DNA splicing, and breeding.

### Your First Voidling

Choose from three starter species:

- **Kwipeck** (Organic/Pyro) — Balanced all-rounder with SMG primary and rockets. Best for learning the fundamentals.
- **Gilick** (Pyro/Cryo) — Close-range brawler with shotgun attacks and a unique counter stance. Aggressive playstyle.
- **Kerapin** (Organic/Cryo) — Defensive controller with deployable mines and a shield. Methodical, safer play.

## Combat Basics

Combat is real-time third-person action. Each voidling has:

- **Primary Ability** — Main attack (shortest cooldown)
- **Secondary Ability** — Specialty attack (medium cooldown)
- **Defensive Ability** — Block, dodge, counter, or shield
- **Tertiary Ability** — Melee combo or charge attack
- **Movement Ability** — Dash, teleport, or repositioning tool
- **Ultimate Ability** — Long cooldown, devastating impact

## The Six Elements

| Element | Strong vs | Weak vs | Status Effect |
|---------|-----------|---------|---------------|
| Neutral | All equally | None | Bleed |
| Organic | Lesion-spawns, Ancients | Crystallines, GenBots | Poison |
| Pyro | Lesion-spawns, Crystallines | GenBots, Ancients | Burn |
| Cryo | GenBots, Ancients | Lesion-spawns, Crystallines | Frostbite |
| Cyber | GenBots, Crystallines | Lesion-spawns | Static (burst at 5 stacks) |
| Plasma | All factions | N/A | Disintegrate + Float |

Each expedition is designated with an element. Choose a voidling whose evolution matches that element for bonus damage.

## The Three Planets

- **Vireo** — Cyber/Cryo expeditions
- **Solum** — Organic/Pyro expeditions, Golden Egg farming routes
- **Aulis** — Plasma/Pyro expeditions, higher difficulty

## Evolution System

Each voidling has two elemental mutation branches. At branch points, use mutagens (earned from expeditions) to evolve. Evolution changes elemental alignment, abilities, and appearance. Each species has approximately 20+ evolution choices.

## DNA Splicing

The Splicing Station lets you combine gene fragments, body parts, colors, and eye genes collected during expeditions. Mix genes to unlock powerful synergies and dual-wield elements.

## Breeding

Hatched voidlings have a chance to roll a **Nature** — a stat boost of +1, +3, or +6. Golden and Silver eggs have higher chances for rare natures. Breed voidlings to transfer natures across generations.

## Attributes

Level up and assign points to: **Strength** (melee + ranged damage), **Vitality** (HP), **Essence** (elemental damage vs weak enemies), **Recuperation** (HP regen), and **Agility** (movement + attack speed).

## The Abyss

The endgame mode — increasingly challenging runs with escalating difficulty. After each victory, choose to dive deeper for greater rewards or retreat to safety.

## Early Game Priorities

1. Try all three starters via the free Steam demo (progress carries over)
2. Complete main story quests until you unlock the Splicing Station
3. Collect one voidling per element type for expedition bonuses
4. Save Golden and Silver eggs for breeding

## Common Mistakes

- Don't spread resources across too many voidlings — focus on 3-4
- Don't ignore DNA splicing — it provides the largest power spikes
- Don't evolve your first voidling immediately; wait until you understand its role
- Don't ignore element matchups — they matter significantly on higher difficulties
