## What is DNA Splicing?

DNA Splicing is Voidling Bound's core crafting system. The Splicing Station lets you combine gene fragments, body parts, colors, and eye genes collected during expeditions to create custom voidlings with powerful synergies impossible through normal evolution.

The official website describes it as: "Collect body parts, colors, eye genes, ability genes, and mutated perks to customize your specimens — total freedom to craft your favorite Voidlings into perfect specimens."

## Gene Types

### Ability Genes
Modify or enhance abilities. Collected from expeditions and boss drops.

### Body Parts
Change physical appearance. May add functional bonuses. Collected from expedition rewards.

### Color Genes
Cosmetic customization of skin, eyes, and markings.

### Eye Genes
Change eye appearance. May affect vision-related abilities.

### Elemental Genes
Allow dual-wielding elements or changing elemental alignment. Rare.

### Perk Genes (Mutated Perks)
Add passive effects that fundamentally change playstyle. Can transform a DPS voidling into a tank or vice versa.

### Corrupted DNA Catalyzers
Abyss-specific upgrades. Push stats beyond normal limits.

## Synergy System

Combining specific gene combinations unlocks powerful synergies:

- Cryo + Cyber → slows + precision damage
- Organic + Plasma → DoT stack enhancement
- Pyro + Cyber → burn + static burst combo

## Dual-Wielding Elements

Through DNA splicing, voidlings can wield two elements simultaneously. Face multiple enemy factions without switching voidlings. Requires rare elemental genes.

## Attributes

| Attribute | Effect |
|-----------|--------|
| Strength | Physical damage (melee AND ranged) |
| Vitality | Max HP and survivability |
| Essence | Elemental damage vs weak enemies; boosts Mutated Perk damage |
| Recuperation | HP regeneration and healing received |
| Agility | Movement speed, attack speed, dodge |

## Optimization Strategies

- Focus on gene synergies rather than individual powerful genes
- Build specialized voidlings for specific content (Abyss, expeditions, bosses)
- Save rare genes for your 3-4 main voidlings
- Dual-element voidlings handle expedition variety best
- Perk genes that complement a voidling's natural abilities provide the largest power spikes
